I feel like that has changed a lot in FM22 though. Perhaps make players peak later or take longer to reach their full potential (their mid twenties or so), or make mental attributes more impactful? Thoughts? It never seems like you are at an advantage for playing an established player with a lot of experience, over just fielding the latest teenage wonderkid. It just makes things a little dry when you are filling up the first team with 18 year olds over again. I think SI could do a much better job at making squad bulding a more interesting excercise by needing a more balanced squad. The youngest team to ever win the premier league was Chealsea in 2005 at just over 24 years. It seems unrealstic to me when you look at the average age of a professional club in the premier league, for example, Arsenal currently having the youngest squad at an average age of 24, with the average of the entire league being around 26/27.
While its's fun to develop young players, I think the game would be a lot more interesting if you needed to balance your team more than that. I reckon most people who play this game (including myself) run the meta of just hovering up a ton of wonderkids and winning everything with a squad full of players who have barely left their teens, and who would consider anyone over the age of 21/22 a dinosaur.
